Digital Snowflakes STEAM Choice Board

Getting ready for post-winterbreak and hopefully some snow days! I made a simple choice board that I’m using with my younger students for a fun STEAM choice class on computers, but you could use it for morning work, choice time, indoor recess, or some STEAM fun in your learning space.

You can tell students to use the link tinyurl.com/ail5n0w to get to the choice board, or download it and share in your classroom links. These 4 options do not have ads or logins and are kid-friendly.

In my room, I do talk about Wilson Bentley and his early scientific documentation of snowflakes and macrophotography. I prefer to use this short Inside Science video to showcase some of his work from the 1800s photographing snowflakes.

We also use the SciShow video of how snowflakes are formed.

Activities should last less than an hour. I’d encourage you to play with them yourself beforehand so you can help student questions. Happy winter!
